I hope everyone had a good Easter or even good weekend. I know I did. It was my sister’s birthday so we had a double whammy today with celebrating. It was nice to visit with family for a few hours. I was able to get the beginning of my week’s meals prepped yesterday which was a good feeling since I’ve been majorly slacking in that respect in the last few weeks.
This week also begins my training for the NYC Marathon. It’ll be a simple week with two 1.5 mile runs and two 3 mile runs and then a short 30 minute walk next Sunday. BUT…I’m running in the Cherry Blossom 10 Miler next Sunday! So in a sense I’ll already be ahead on my “training”. I can’t wait to start again but at the same time so scared because I don’t want to be disappointed in myself. I know that there will be some training set backs and I just hope that they are few and far between. I have my journal set up and I will share more about that later. I also have my excel file where I can keep track of everything as well. I’m taking M to dinner later this week for her Birthday but we are also going to discuss some “shop talk” and figure out what is the best course of me and my training. I picked a 30 week training plan because I wanted to ease back into training and have enough time to get the kinks out getting back into the swing of things. My mileage doesn’t start to really kick up until June or July. I already have some days that I have to switch around due to travel, other races and such. It’s going to be a long 30 week ride.
I’m hopeful that the weather cooperates this week to allow some outside runs and hopefully in the morning, but if not then they will be at lunch on the treadmill or elliptical or even possibly when I get home from work. I need to make sure that I start these runs off on the right foot. I have plenty of people that I’ve got lined up for some runs or at least shorter runs with me. Not many are quick to say “Hey I’ll go with you on that 20 mile run you have to do”. HAHA. I do have a few friends that I’ve recruited to ride their bikes while I run on my longer runs so I’m not alone or I’ll have friends meet me at certain points and we’ll run a certain length and I’ll keep on going.
